Dr. Lawrence Perlman

After receiving his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, Dr. Perlman completed his doctoral training in the acclaimed Clinical Psychology program at New York University.  He worked at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY for 32 years, where he created innovative therapy programs and headed various clinical teams.  At the same time, he taught and provided clinical supervision in the graduate psychology programs at NYU, CCNY, and Yeshiva University.  He founded and directed the Child and Adolescent Therapy Program at the Brooklyn Institute of Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.  During this period, Dr. Perlman maintained a private practice in Manhattan and Brooklyn where he treated adults, children, teenagers, and families.  In 2001, Dr. Perlman relocated to Ann Arbor, MI and worked for ten years at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, where he developed group treatments for insomnia, pain management, and smoking cessation, as well as a multidimensional Wellness Program.  Since retiring from the VA, Dr. Perlman has been in half time private practice in Ann Arbor.  In 2015, he founded the Washtenaw Psychology Society, a regional practitioner organization that now has 250 members.
